“Hi, Puppy Ham!”
He yelled to the clouds
He said it loud
He said it with a smile.
He said it with the conviction
Of a 7-year-old boy
Who’s loved and lost
And found you in the rays of the sun
That shine through the clouds in the morning.

He doesn’t know that tomorrow
Is the anniversary of when you died
He doesn’t know how much it hurts
How much I still cry.
He knows I miss you
He knows I think about you always
He doesn’t know the circumstance
That you made the choice to go
But he hugs me when I am down.

He knows how to make me smile
And remember the good times
Because he doesn’t remember the sad
He never saw the grieving
And focuses on the impact you had
You were an important factor in his life
And he tells me he misses you
I miss you too…especially today,
Because I dread tomorrow.
