Life Be Still

Life Be Still
Life be still, hold my thought
A treasured memory I have caught
Stay in the moment, keep it there
Single out his image till its clear
Capture my vision to feel his presence
Capture his soul to embrace his essence
Life be still, go back in time
Thoughts and images together twine
A beautiful baby boy melted our hearts
Blessed with memories as each one darts
Through all the years as he thrived and grew
Capturing the friendly hearts of all he knew
Life be still, help me to yet again see
Life’s precious moments, what used to be
An active toddler when not so very tall
Cleverly found a way to climb up the wall
Before long, it was a tree fort up so very high
In a beautiful maple tree that reached to the sky
Life be still, remember each precious day
And all the funny little things he would say
The ingenious and remarkable things he’d done
So much love and pride we have for our son
Years full of gifts from him we forever derive
Blessed by all the precious years he was alive
Life be still, God grant me peace
In my memory he will never cease
He lives in every corner of my mind
No longer needing a timepiece to wind
Life be still, let me go back to “when”
It comforts me so, when I’m missing him
