Unless You Are Me

Unless you are me
You can not understand
The reason why
My life was taken
By my own hand

You can not understand
The suffering, the pain
The constant fights
The daily struggle
With my own brain

The will to live
Easy for you,
Was strong to begin
But the need to find rest
Slowly began to win

As you mourn my passing
Please remember I am at peace
The pain and the daily struggle
At last has found release

Teach others of my plight
Of my life of mental pain
Of the meaning of my illness
To save others from doing the same
