I Have Begun

I have begun to let go
Of the shock and disbelief
That you left my life
And I you did cheat.

I have begun to stop crying
With every waking moment
I have let go of your choice
I refuse to own it.

I have begun to feel feelings
Even if they are of regret
I hold on to the happy times
Lest I forget.

I have begun to smile
At the mention of your name
I can do this in spite of knowing
I will never be the same.

I have begun to celebrate
The man that was you
Instead of walking in circles
Not knowing what to do.

I have begun to teach others
The pain of this loss
So they can help survivors
So they’ll understand the cost.

I have begun to heal
Thanks to my friends
The ones I’ve met here
This Circle without end.
