Just Get Over It

“Just get over it”,
That’s what you all say.
I pray you never have to experience
What my family had to that day.

You can’t just get over this loss;
It haunts you all the time.
Unless you’ve been there,
You can not read my mind.

When your loved one
Takes his own life
It opens up wounds
Grief, pain and strife.

Unless you have walked a mile
In the shoes I must wear
You can’t understand
This load that I bear.

Until you have lived this
And I pray that you will not
You will never know the pain
The hurt this event has brought.

If you ever lose a loved one
By a choice that was theirs
I will be here for you
To try calm your fears.

Until such time occurs
Remember as I cry
That I will not find the answers
To my continuous “why?”

So I will not just get over
I will not just move on
I miss my Daddy greatly
I still can’t believe he’s gone.
