Amber Nicole Sanchez|
04/14/92 - 09/23/06
Amber was a beautiful daughter, granddaughter, sister, and niece. She was loved and admired by so many people. Amber excelled in school and had plans to go to college to become a Forensic Scientist. Her interests included horseback riding, hunting, playing cards, and boxing. Amber had a very kind heart and put everyone's needs before her own.
In August of 2006, Amber began her Freshman year at Los Lunas High School. One month later on September 23, 2006, our beloved Amber passed away at the age of 14. Her death was the result of suicide. Amber was an amazing young girl who, while she was here with us, lived her life to the fullest.
We are learning that she apparently suffered from a depression that went undiagnosed. Edwin Shneidman, a Clinical Psychologist who is a leading authority on suicide is of the opinion that the idea that people who really want to kill themselves don't talk about it with others is a myth. He suggests that people who commit suicide have told others about their plans.
Amber DID confide in several close friends that she had thoughts of suicide. In fact, she was communicating with these same individuals by way of Text messaging up until the time of her death.
If she were here with us today Amber would tell everyone that if someone you care about shares their desire to take their own life, whatever the reason, please care enough to get them some help.
On April 14, 2007, we celebrated your 15th birthday. We love you beautiful baby girl. Rest in Peace.
